 Gardening

Gardening in Florida varies greatly from other parts of the country. While northerners are shoveling snow we are eating fresh grown tomatoes and peppers. Some may miss picking apples off of a tree, but nothing beats fresh squeezed orange juice from your backyard. When planning a Florida garden, it is important to consider which plants will flourish in our tropical climate and which ones will take over your yard. The Websites listed to the right can help get your garden or landscaping started. Additionally, all of the Lee County Libraries have a Florida Collection containing books specific to our environment.

If you need any assistance, the Reference Staff will be happy to assist you in person, by phone at (239) 479-INFO (4636), or click here for online assistance via e-mail, or chat, with Ask a Librarian.
