Fort Myers-Lee County Public Library
The Fort Myers-Lee County Public Library has been a presence downtown since 1900 and has been open for business in its current facility on Central Avenue since June 18, 1979. The library is home to the Lee County Library System’s main collection of legal, business and financial information as well as a complete run of The Fort Myers News-Press and The New York Times on microfilm. Additionally, the facility houses the library system’s main genealogy collection and often has volunteer genealogists available by appointment for general assistance.
Serving a diverse and ever-changing downtown population, the Fort Myers Library maintains a broad collection of adult fiction and non-fiction as well as children’s materials for every reading level. The library is equipped with over 30 Internet terminals and features free Wi-Fi access for library patrons, a meeting room and study room available for public use. The library offers a wide variety of free programs each month for adults, children and teenagers. These programs include book discussions, computer courses, children’s storytimes, arts and crafts for adults and children, genealogy and small business seminars.
