 “Book Buddies” Volunteers Needed


FORT MYERS, Fla., March 9, 2006 – Americorps is working with the Dunbar-Jupiter Hammon Public Library to recruit and train teen and adult volunteers to get together in weekly 30 minute sessions with school age children for reading and related activities.  This program is called “Book Buddies,” pairing a Big Buddy volunteer with elementary age children for a shared reading experience. 

The minimum age for Big Buddy volunteers is 14. 

A training session for Big Buddy volunteers is scheduled for on Wednesday, April 5 from 4:30 to 5:30.  To sign up as a Big Buddy volunteer, please visit the Dunbar-Jupiter Hammon Public Library, 3095 Blount Street.  For more information, call 334-3602 and choose option 3.
