Alliance of the Arts to judge Lee County Library System’s first Teens’ “Design a Poster” contest.

FORT MYERS, Fla., April 11, 2007 –  Teen artists’ displays at libraries April 15 – 21; contest reception and judging 6:30 p.m. on April 19, at the Alliance of the Arts.

For many years, children in grades 3-5 have participated in the library’s “Design a Bookmark” contest, but there wasn’t a library art contest for teens.

”Many of the teens who had participated in the bookmark contest when they were children, wanted an opportunity to continue using their art to express their interest in the library,” said Lee County Library System Community Relations Coordinator, Heather O’Connell.

This year, 6 – 12 graders all over Lee County were invited to show their artistic talent to create posters with the theme “Get Active @ your library” Several entries were received from all Lee County Library System locations.

”Themes range from the activities like Dance Dance Revolution to fitness videos and nutrition books,” O’Connell said .

During National Library Week April 15 – 21, all entries will be on display in the libraries where they were entered.
