Fort Myers FL- May 6, 2008 – Grant Makes More Money Management Titles Available at Local Libraries

With today’s tight economy, people are trying to find ways to make their money go further, and some new titles at the Lee County Library System can help.

Thanks to a $1,000 donation from Rent-A-Center, Lee County Library System recently purchased additional titles on everything from creating a budget and improving credit scores to bringing in more money.

“We were able to add some items that can help with a variety of financial concerns,” said Lee County Library System Community Relations Coordinator, Heather O’Connell.

A partial list includes: Budget Kit; Complete Idiot’s Guide to Improving Your Credit Score; Credit Repair Answer Book; High Powered Investing All-in-One for Dummies; Investing Online for Dummies; Personal Finance for Dummies; All About Stocks: The Easy Way to Get Started; and Total Money Makeover

The library also saw the grant as an opportunity to expand the financial information geared to young adults.

“Teens are just establishing their own financial habits and frequently have some freedom in how they spend their earnings, so it’s easy to fall into habits like impulse buying. We selected several titles to provide them with information and options to help make smart spending and saving choices early on”, O’Connell said.

The Teen Girl’s Gotta-Have-It Guide to Money: Getting Smart about Making It, Saving It, and Spending It!;  Smart Money: How to Manage Your Cash;  Your Checking Account: Lessons in Personal Banking;  and Map Your Financial Future: Starting the Right Path in Your Teens and Twenties.

“Of course, financial literacy can start younger, so we selected some materials to help children understand the importance of money management,” O’Connell said.

Clark Smart Parents, Clark Smart Kids: Teaching Kids of Every Age the Value of Money, Money: A Kid’s Guide to Saving and Investing and The Kids’ Money Book:  Earning, Saving, Spending, Investing, Donating.

Multiple copies were purchased of each of these titles and the collection also includes DVDs and books on CD by popular financial planners.

Any of these items can be reserved by calling 479-INFO or visiting the library’s website at www.lee-county.com/library and selecting “Catalog Search”.
