Kristy Sutorius, Lee County Library System Senior
Librarian, is named to position in National Library Group
Kristy Sutorius will serve as a member on the 2011 Mi=
ldred
L. Batchelder Award Committee. The committee is charged with selecting the=
most
outstanding translated book published in the United States for children f=
or that
year. Honor books may also be named. The Batchelder Committee
operates under the direction of the Association for Library Service to
Children, a division of the American Library Association.
Ms. Sutorius is the Head of the Youth Services depart=
ment at
the Lakes Regional Library in Fort
Myers. She has been with the Lee County Library S=
ystem
for 3 ½ years.
The American Library Association serves as a voice of=
America’s
libraries and the people who depend on them. =
ALA promotes the highest quality libr=
ary and
information services and protects public access to information. Ther=
e are
nearly 64,000 members worldwide. It is the oldest and largest library
association in the world with members in academic, public, school, governm=
ent
and special libraries.
The Association for Library service to Children is co=
ncerned
with:

evaluation of library materials for children;
- improving
and expanding library services for children and those who work with t=
