Celebrate Black History Month @ Your Library in February


The time has come again when communities across the nation reflect on the outstanding achievements and contributions of African-Americans who have greatly influenced and helped to shape American society.  This year, the works of trailblazing women will come to mind in honor of the 2012 Black History Month theme: "Black Women in American Culture and History."

The Lee County Library System provides electronic resources for researching noteworthy African-American women and other Black History Month topics, suggested reading material, and a designated 
African-American Book Collection that is available year-round. Throughout the month, several library locations may also offer activities for patrons of all ages to help celebrate this momentous occasion. This page connects you to such resources available wthin the library system during Black History Month.
